Commented on Overlaysmith24dThanks, Cyrus! Teams works well as long as you join in the browser rather than the desktop app. For talking through slides, Overlaysmith never touches your shared screen; it only adds your name or an agenda to your camera video, and you can step through agenda items from the keyboard as you present.Posted in the feed24dSomething I've been building on nights and weekends, and I thought this group might get some use out of it.
I kept joining client calls on their platform, Teams one day and Zoom or Meet the next, and there was never a way to show up with my own name and branding. So I built a small Chrome extension that puts your name, title or logo on your video in any browser call, even when you're a guest.
It's free, no account needed. If it saves anyone here a bit of hassle, that's a win for me: overlaysmith.com
Happy to hear what you think.Commented on Overlaysmith25dThanks, James! The easiest way to describe Overlaysmith is a broadcast-style lower third for your video calls, without OBS, a virtual camera or any setup. Type your name and title, and it shows on the video you send in Google Meet, Zoom, Teams, Webex and more, right in the browser. Free, no account.Commented on Overlaysmith25dThanks, Kaijing! I think you're describing TrainScription, my transcription extension; you can find it at trainscription.com. Glad the subtitle export is useful! This page is for Overlaysmith, which puts your name, title or logo on your video in browser calls. Thanks for the kind words!Commented on Overlaysmith28dThanks, Douglas! That's exactly the idea. Overlaysmith keeps your name, title or logo on your video whichever platform the call is on, even when you're a guest on someone else's meeting. If you give it a try, a review on the Chrome Web Store would really help a new extension get found.Commented on Overlaysmith28dThanks! And yes, it works while you're in the call. Overlaysmith lets you switch overlays mid-call from the toolbar or a keyboard shortcut, without leaving or rejoining.
